Teche Elementary recently held a "Super Bowl" party to reward the students who earned a ticket by learning their multiplication facts fluently. Ms. Peggy Hebert, instructional technologist, proposed a challenge to all of the students to encourage them to learn their facts. The students were required to take timed tests, finish them within three minutes, and have a score with 100% accuracy. The student learning target for the fourth and fifth graders was to master the 0-12's and the third graders 0-5's. Over 200 students were invited to attend the party filled with music, food and lots of fun! Teche Elementary was built in 1960. The original structure was renovated during the 2003-2004 school year. The Acadian Style look has not been compromised. Since its opening in 1960, the school has had four principals: Ms. Mildred Broussard, (1960-1974), Mr. Issac Thomas (1974-1986), Mrs. Lulla Wiltz (1986-1998), and Ms. Patti Guidry, who has been the principal of the school since 1998. Teche Elementary has an open door policy and welcomes parents and community members.

*Teche Elementary recently purchased a button machine to make buttons for the students as an incentive for Accelerated Reader Points and various other activities. The students proudly display their buttons on their ID lanyards.
*Teche also received coupons to distribute to the students as incentives from the following local merchants: McDonald's of Henderson, Silver's Travel Center, and Domino's of Breaux Bridge.
