Welcome to the SMSH Library! The library is open to all students and faculty members from 7:40 a.m. until 3:15 pm. Books and magazines are checked out for two weeks. Students are welcome to spend their lunch period in the library to read, study, complete homework assignments, or access the Internet to complete classroom work.

SMSH's library has over 9000 books and more than 2500 magazines available for checkouts. The library subscribes to about 30 different magazines, and the current issues are on display for in-house reading. The Teche News, Advocate, and Daily Advertiser newspapers are also available to the patrons. The library is also considered to be one of the school's computer labs. There are 33 computers available for students, and teachers have access to the SmartBoard and Elmo document camera for whole class computer instruction. A video collection of approximately 300 videos is available to the faculty for instructional purposes. Classes are generally scheduled for 45 minute periods, so that as many as eight classes a day can be scheduled during the day for library visits. Classes are scheduled for students to use subject related computer time, or so students may research topics using reference books or magazines. Students are sometimes brought to the library to check out books for recreational reading or for class assignments.
