End of Course Tests

End of Course Tests (EOC) are a recommendation of the High School Redesign Commission to help improve consistency of the curriculum of the high school courses across the state. The EOC tests are criterion-referenced and standards-based tests. The tests are given online. The first test to be piloted was Algebra 1 in the fall of 2007. English 2 was piloted in the Spring of 2008.  Assessment Guides for Algebra 1 and English 2 can be found at the Louisiana Department of Education Website at www.louisianaschools.net.  Click on the testing tab and it will take you to End of Course Exams.

Algebra 1 EOC exam counted as a high stakes test in the 2010-2011 school year. The  freshmen class of 2010-2011 was the first class that will use the other EOC exams that follow as high stakes testing. The current GEE exam will  phase out in the 2012-2013 school year. Other EOC exams that are scheduled are: Geometry, English 3, Biology, and American History,  Students will have to pass Algebra 1 or Geometry, English 2 or English 3, and either the science or social studies test. Assessment Guides are also provided for these tests.

High schools are now faced with scheduling online tests with limited computers and space for testing. Our parish has received additional computers through a grant written by our technology department. We piloted  tests at our three high schools in the Fall and Spring Semesters of the 2008-2009 school year.
