Dear Parents, Testing, testing, and testing! That is the buzz around school at this time of year. Today and tomorrow our eighth graders are taking the Explore Test. This test is going to form the basis for monitoring their future growth as it relates to the ACT which they are now required to take in high school. We have a Parent Testing Night meeting tonight, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 6:00p.m. We will share with parents examples of some of the changes we have made in the curriculum, resources you can use at home, our current School Performance Score, and our projected School Performance Score. The advisory class at each grade level that has the most attendance will receive a Pizza Party. We are currently making some big changes to Student Pick Up in front of the school. This week we are under construction, but that process is going to be quick. When construction is complete, traffic will continue to flow in the same direction as it does now. Vehicles will enter a pick up lane when they approach the school, students will meet the vehicle at the curb, and the vehicles will then merge back onto the road and keep to the right. Traffic must continue to move in one direction. This process will make the pick up much safer since students will not be moving between parked vehicles and entering a vehicle on the road. Students will not be allowed to cross the street to be picked up. Once the construction is done, there will be three handicap spots and two visitor spots in front of the school. When you visit the school, please use the visitor spots or park in the student pick up lane. Do not park on the street side opposite of our school. That area is private property. Next Tuesday, March 12, 2013, we are hosting Domino’s Family Night. A percentage of all sales at the Breaux Bridge store will be donated to CJH. Please make plans to have pizza for dinner next Tuesday. LEAP Phase 1 Testing for eighth graders is Tuesday, March 19, 2013. This is a very busy month for us. I love all the excitement that comes with this time of year. It is our chance to shine! Happy testing, Charee Theriot, Principal
