There are 21,941 housing units at an average density of 11/km2 (27/mi2). The racial makeup of the parish is 65.8% White, 33.7% Black or African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.8% Asian, and 1.4% from two or more races. 2.1% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. In the parish the population is spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18 and 11.7% who are 65 years of age or older. 50.7% of the population are female. The median income for a household in the parish is $30,719. The per capita income for the parish is $20,788. 16.2% of the population are below the poverty line. |
These “Loozi-Doodle†artworks were drawn by students from five different schools across St. Martin Parish. These creative students are all in the Talent Visual Arts Program. Following our “Louisiana†theme this year, students created these amazing doodles starting with the outline of our state. The only requirement was to draw the doodle with black pen.
